Shiqi

Shiqi is a town with very different atmosphere from Xinzao.

Shiqi is an industrial town with many factories in the area. This is a much bigger town than Xinzao, with shopping mall and massage center.  Again the town is 10 min. bus from metro station Shiqi, so it is necessary for you to either take a minibus, motorcycle or van to commute between metro and the hotel.

You would find some hotel which is quite big in size, yet, you would be surprised to find there are only a few rooms in a hotel, for instance, a hotel of 5 floors, may only consist of 40 rooms. It is because the hotel here may dedicate half of the space for massage parlor. If you read Chinese, you would find there is recruitment advertisement every where, the top post is looking for massager, girl, beautiful looking, aged below 25, with attractive salary.

So, if you are those interested to find young girls (it means usually they do not have proper Chinese traditional massage skill) to do massage for you and you would like to save money from hotel expense on those girls, then this is a good choice.

As the few massage center in town are within walking distance. 

Overall speaking, hotels in Shiqi would not have increase the price during Canton Fair. The general practice is: they just charge the normal price, i.e. no discount during Canton Fair. So, that means the room rate in Shiqi would be just 1/2 or 1/3 of charges of hotel of similar grade in Guangzhou city center.

It takes around 30 min by metro from Pazhou to Shiqi.  It costs around USD10 by taxi fare and may take around 20 min. So, even though most hotels in Shiqi would not offer free shuttle bus to Pazhou, yet, taken into consideration of the saving in hotel rent, it is still a good choice. Especially, when you are traveling with a big group, you can lease a van to pick you up from Pazhou.  Or you just take the metro back to Shiqi and take the motorbike back to the hotel.
